About Flinders Health and Medical Research Building
At the beginning of 2022, construction commenced on the $255 million (FHMRB). Due to open in the first quarter of 2024, the FHMRB will enable researchers, practitioners and industry partners to work together more closely than ever before, creating a hub of collaboration within southern Adelaide’s own biomedical research precinct. Located adjacent to Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital, it will be the focal point of research informed by genuine patient need, positioned to make an immediate improvement to people’s Health and wellbeing.
About the Role
The Work Healthand Safety Chemical Technical Assistant will be accountable for the support and coordination of safety within the College of Medicine and Public Health, ensuring the safety of staff, students and visitors. A high focus of this role will be on the storage, transport and disposal of hazard substances and dangerous goods, while maintaining the Flinders University WHS policies and procedures.
As part of the Work Healthand Safety Chemical Technical Assistant role, the appointee will support the Senior Work Health and Safety Advisor, while assisting with legislation requirements, audits and inspections.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Completion of a diploma level qualification with relevant experience or certificate level qualification in Work Health & Safety with relevant/extensive work-related experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in WHS or Science related background
Experience in the handling and storage of hazardous chemicals and dangerous goods
Knowledge of Work Health & Safety (WHS) Legislation
Ability to take initiative and work in both team and autonomous environments
Ability to take initiative and work in both team and autonomous environments
Demonstrated experience in hazard management and providing WHS services.
