The Work Health and Safety Manager provides technical advice in a workplace that has a range of unique, complex, and high-risk Health and Safety matters such as hazardous chemicals, hazardous materials, public safety, plant and equipment, and construction and infrastructure. The Work Health and Safety Manager plays a key role in supporting the Royal Australian Mint’s work, health, and Safety program. They work collaboratively with staff and business areas cultivating a safety risk management culture. The Work Health and Safety Manager supports the Chief Executive Officer in chairing the Mint’s Health and Safety Committee, liaising with external stakeholders, and representing the Mint at various forums in relation to WHS matters. The successful applicant is required to work full-time. The duties of this position include:
Providing technical advice on a range of unique, complex and high-risk Health and Safety matters such as hazardous chemicals, hazardous materials, public safety, plant and equipment, and infrastructure.
Contributing to the development, implementation and review of Work Health and Safety management system documentation to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance.
Implementing work, health, and Safety initiatives to continually improve the effectiveness of work, Health and Safety, and monitor the achievement of performance objectives.
Providing advice and technical expertise to build capability and enable sustained and continual improvements.
Conducting incident investigation and risk management activities, and monitoring and analysing work, health, and Safety data to identify trends, emerging issues and improvement opportunities and report on performance.
Conducting WHS risks assessments.
Conducting research, interpreting, and applying legislation and preparing draft correspondence.
Coordinating health monitoring activities and service providers who provide hygiene services.
Coordinating Health and Safety Committee related activities including provision of secretariat and technical support.
Providing training on work, Health and Safety related matters or coordinating external providers in their delivery of training.
Coordinating first aid services.
Security clearance
This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
