Our client is a growing team in the WA Iron Ore sector, with operations spread across various locations in Western Australia. They are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their leadership team and ensure the safety of their operations as they expand.
This role offers the opportunity to be a key decision-maker in a growing company that values agility and innovation. You will play a crucial role in fostering a positive safety culture and driving the company's future success across all sites.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business. Your role as the Health and Safety focal point will involve interactions with senior leadership and business partners, as well as site-based teams. Experience in Major Capital Projects (MCP) as a client or EPCM Health and Safety Manager is highly desirable. This role is based in Perth but will oversee Health and Safety across multiple sites in Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote the company's Health and Safety practices and ensure compliance with WHS legislation across all sites.
- Manage the company's safety focus, liaise with stakeholders on Health and Safety matters, and drive continuous improvement of the Health and Safety system.
- Oversee incident investigations and manage the integrated management system (IMS) according to ISO 45001 standards.
- Provide coaching and advice on root cause analysis, support field/project safety teams, and ensure consistent implementation of safety systems across all sites.
- Prepare Health and Safety reports, procedures, and management plans, and develop site-specific safety plans.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance and provide hands-on support.
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Expertise in managing ISO 45001 systems.
- Intermediate computer literacy.
- A Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or higher.
- Extensive Health and Safety experience in the resources sector (mining or oil and gas), specifically in iron ore mining.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Experience conducting internal and project audits according to ISO standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies and compliance requirements.
- Willingness to travel frequently to various sites across Western Australia.
