The Role
The APS 6 WHS Officer for Joint Health Unit Central New South Wales (JHU CNSW) is responsible to the Commanding Officer JHU CNSW for overall WHS compliance across eight health facilities located in the Greater Sydney Region and South Coast. They will be broadly responsible for ongoing monitoring, auditing and facilitating rectification of WHS issues across JHU CNSW facilities in keeping with ADF and Commonwealth WHS policy and legislation.
They will be required to engage regularly with local-level WHS representatives embedded in health facilities and provide advice and mentoring as required in order to maintain WHS compliance. They will be required to engage with Joint Health Command (JHC) WHS representatives so as to ensure alignment of JHU CNSW WHS compliance and policy with strategic JHC WHS direction and intent.
The JHU CNSW WHS Officer will develop and support local level programs and strategies in order to meet JHC, ADF and Commonwealth WHS requirements. They will be tasked to implement audit schedules within JHU CNSW and contribute to cross-Command audit requirements as a JHC WHS subject matter expert.

The Joint Health Unit - Central New South Wales (JHU CNSW) WHS Officer sits within the JHU CNSW Headquarters / Operations team based at Defence Plaza Sydney, and is responsible to the Commanding Officer JHU CNSW for overall WHS compliance across eight health facilities located in the Greater Sydney Region and South Coast.

To be successful in your role as an APS 6 WHS Officer, you will have:
- Experience managing a team, including mentoring, coaching and developing others.
- A passion for, and experience in WHS and providing WHS Services to Joint Health Unit - Central New South Wales facilities.
- Have the ability to respond to WHS incidents and issues in a proactive, positive and dynamic way.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and high level interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Maintain currency in WHS knowledge and management.
