THE ROLE
Reporting to the Group Asset Maintenance Manager, the Workshop Manager will lead and supervise the performance of a team of skilled employees within our Workshop. This position will also oversee the implementation of critical preventative maintenance strategy, capital expenditure and safety procedures as the Hallett group moves towards a Centralised maintenance System “MEX”.
The Workshop Manager’s key responsibilities also will include:
- Ensure that fleet vehicle maintenance is of the highest standard
- Lead, motivate and supervise staff to ensure that targets and deadlines are being achieved
- Deliver strategies to minimise vehicle down time.
- Assist senior management in planning fleet movements and major repairs.
- Manage external contractors and outside resources achieve the efficient completion of all maintenance and repair work, where applicable.
- Ensure that parts and labour costs are controlled and maintained within budgetary limits.
- Partner with our safety team on matters relating to workshop and plant safety, training, safety/ procedural audits, corrective actions and interim safety checks
QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES
- Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or other relevant mechanical trade.
- Previous Management experience in maintenance activities within the Transport industry and large fleets.
- Good computer skills with the ability to use Maintenance management systems such as MEX, SAP or Maximo and Microsoft Office Suite (including word, power point and excel).
- Previous experience in managing costs and budgets.
- Able to develop, communicate, implement and adhere to schedules.
- Good organisational and time management skills - ability to prioritise tasks.
