Workshop Supervisor

About the role

WesTrac is seeking an experienced Supervisor to join Machine Shop based at our Tomago Branch.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Workshop Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to a team of skilled tradespeople, trades assistants and apprentices to ensure safety and quality of work is of the highest standard.

This role will see the successful candidate overseeing the efficient day to day operations of the Machine workshop, whilst ensuring effective work order management and workshop performance to achieve business targets of productivity and compliance to Caterpillar, Customer and WesTrac requirements.

This position is offered as a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a large sized team and allocate work to ensure project timelines are met.
• Allocate labour to ensures plans are executed with adequate supervision.
• Ensure component repairs are completed in accordance with the schedule/plan.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the business.
• Promote and demonstrate safety behaviours and reporting processes to ensure an ongoing safe working environment and the resolution of identified hazards.
• Provide support and advice to the team as required to ensure minimal delays in jobs.
• Effectively manage work orders to ensure productivity targets and quality standards are met.

Skills & Experience

• Proven leadership and team building capability.
• Mechanical Trade Qualification preferred but not essential.
• Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to successfully manage fluctuating workloads and prioritise accordingly.
• Strong diagnostic skills, with a commitment to meeting customer requirements.
• Advanced communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
• Ability to coach others for high performance and manage teams in changing environments.
• Prior experience in an operational role with proven ability to manage people and customer expectations.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar earth moving equipment or similar is highly desirable.
