Bicultural Liaison Officer (Casual)

Band 4A + 25% ($43.97 per hour)

The Equity and Community Development Branch is currently looking for Bicultural Liaison Officers to join our team on a casual basis. The Equity and Inclusion Unit utilises networks, relationships and programs to facilitate direct community participation in the development and delivery of strategies and initiatives of Council.

Bicultural Liaison Officers will support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Yarra to participate in community consultations, and receive information about Council. We are seeking staff who speak any of the following languages:

• Mandarin
• Cantonese
• Vietnamese
• Arabic

As a Bicultural Liaison Officer, you will:

• Assist CALD residents to participate meaningfully in community consultations, workshops and information sessions;
• Use your cultural knowledge, language skills and lived experience to assist Council to improve engagement with Yarra’s CALD communities.

Suitable candidates will:

• Live in, or have close connections to, the City of Yarra ;
• Speak, read and understand English confidently;
• Confidently speak one or more other of the following languages (Arabic / Cantonese / Mandarin/ Vietnamese);
• Have strong connections with CALD communities and groups in Yarra.
