The Youth Care Coordinator acts as the first point of contact for young people accessing the headspace service and play a significant role in their continued engagement. This role provides high quality assessments as well as evidence based therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person. It is a role like no other – fast paced, continued learning, varied duties and in a supportive team that only delivers exceptional services.
The vacancy is Full Time, 75 hours per fortnight, and will be ongoing employment.

What will I do?
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and screening of young people referred to headspace
- Engage with headspace clients to ensure ongoing service engagement
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the ongoing success of the centre
- Advocate on behalf of young people whose care needs are being coordinated by headspace
- Assist with community capacity building, community awareness, and education and training activities.
What do I need?
- Qualifications in psychology; social work; occupational therapy; nursing; drug and alcohol work; youth work; mental health; or other fields relevant to the provision of clinical interventions for young people with mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues.
- Proven ability to undertake clinical assessments of young people experiencing mental health or drug and alcohol problems
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people
- Good working knowledge of computer technology and experience using clinical software packages.
