Investing In Our Youth is a not for profit, community-based organisation that promotes the healthy development of children, young people and families in the South West region of Western Australia. We achieve this by working with other community service organisations, the business sector, government and the wider community to generate ideas and facilitate projects, services and community plans that will foster the development of children, young people and families in the South West.
About the Youth Driving Programs
The part-time Support Officer will work under the supervision of the Driving Programs Coordinator to deliver the SW RYDE and End2End programs to eligible participants.
The End to End Young Driver Training program is designed to support 16-25 year olds in their journey to achieving their full licence, from end to end.
An Investing In Our Youth initiative, this program supports young people all the way through the process of obtaining their full drivers licence, including; driver education, obtaining the learners permit, building driving experience through formal driving lessons and the RYDE program, and to sit and pass the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) and Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) to achieve their P plates.
Qualifications & Experience
- The ability to engage with young people and volunteers with appropriate communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience managing social media platforms.
- Ability to use online software on various digital devices.
- Certificate III or IV in Community Services / Youth Work.
- A good understanding of the issues young people are facing and referral pathways.
- Knowledge of the WA Graduated Driver Training and License System.
- Ability to network and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge and practical application of workplace health and safety.
- Hold or be able to apply for a Working With Children Check and National Police Check prior to commencing.
- Preferable to hold current First Aid certificate.
- Preferable to have completed Youth Mental Health First Aid.
