Here is an exciting opportunity to join a new initiative aimed at developing and delivering events for the youth of the Fraser Coast.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Youth Events Advisor will work within the Youth Events Team Initiative (YETI) to deliver events encouraging young people, and young adults with families, to participate in community. This includes designing new events, finding local partnerships, collecting and analysing community feedback on events they would like to attend, developing an events action plan and monitoring the events implementation and overall success. The Youth Events Advisor will provide support to HBNC events and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the community experiences are safe and engaging. The Youth Events Advisor will also have specialist knowledge and experience in hospitality and catering. This position will need to have flexibility in working hours to support event delivery.
The position will work with the Coordinator to support youth engagement at HBNC’s events and support engagement of youth, particularly 18 – 25 years.

Essential
- Experience and knowledge of the needs and issues facing young people today.
- Experience in developing and delivering events.
- Ability to work independently within a team environment.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and liaison skills
- Knowledge of the principles relating to confidentiality and duty of care.
- Capacity to facilitate group workshops and training experiences.
- Current C class driver’s licence
- Working with Children Suitability Card & Police Check
Desirable
- Experience using various types of audio/ visual technology, social media and internet platforms.
- Experience working in a youth related service with vulnerable and complex young people.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing and delivering events.
- Proven experience working collaboratively and innovatively with communities to meet and achieve goals that facilitate safe events for young people.
- Demonstrated knowledge of practices to engage and assure the cultural safety of clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, including those from an Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or CALD background, or the LGBTIQA+ community.
- Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, including report writing and conflict resolution skills, and a sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, Child Safety, Workplace Health and Safety, Discrimination, Privacy and other relevant legislative requirements for this service context.

HBNC was founded 1989 as a community-based initiative to provide help, friendship and support to the most disenfranchised people in the community. We develop and deliver programs and services in response to community need. Presently, HBNC manages 30 funded programs that encompass aspects of aged care, family services, diversity and social isolation.
