Youth Worker

CatholicCare Tasmania’s Inspire@HOME program is one of the largest providers of Therapeutic Residential Care in Tasmania. The Inspire@HOME Program provides direct care in a residential setting to young people aged 12-18.

We are currently looking for new team members who are passionate about supporting young people by providing a nurturing home environment. The role/s provide high quality day-to-day therapeutic care, act as a positive role model and supervise the children and young people who live in the home. Although the role comes with its challenges, it is highly rewarding, and you will play an integral part in a community that brings positive change to a young person’s life.

We have a number of permanent part time positions.

About The Role:

Your role will be diverse and challenging and will involve, providing therapeutic care to enrich the safety, attachment and physical and emotional development for trauma-impacted children and young people living in a residential setting.

Some of the role requirements include:

• Travelling with young people to and from school to appointments and activities
• Consistently engaging with the young people in the house on both an individual and a group level
• Household duties, which includes the preparation of nutritional meals for the young people
• Completing appropriate documentation and writing clear and concise case notes and reports
• Understanding and abiding by policies and procedures
• Completing core mandatory training and refreshers
• Overnight stays (sleep overs)

We are looking for people who:

Are flexible, adaptable and open to learning as no two days are the same. Working with young people who can have complex and challenging behaviours requires you to build rapport quickly and remain non-judgmental. This also requires you to have resilience and good professional boundaries. You will understand the impact on children and young people of developmental trauma and work with your team to build security, stability and trust. You will be comfortable with computers and completing the admin tasks required. The role requires candidates to be available for combinations of different shift patterns across morning, afternoon and sleepovers shifts on a 24/7 roster.

 Essential Requirements:

• Satisfactory National Police Check
• Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card
• Current Tasmanian driving licence, and
• Current Provide First Aid training certificate or willing to obtain on commencement.
