About the Role:
The Wellbeing Workforce initiative ( https://education.qld.gov.au/students/student-health-safety-wellbeing/student-wellbeing-package ) has been established to support Queensland state schools, and ensure every student has access to support for their wellbeing at school.
The Darling Downs South West Region is seeking Youth Workers to help advance this game-changing work in the following locations:
- Goondiwindi
- Miles
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Deliver early intervention strategies to support students' mild mental health concerns (in conjunction with other student support roles)
- Deliver structured wellbeing and social emotional learning programs to individual students and small groups
- Identify and provide appropriate assistance to students experiencing difficulties at school and/or at home which may impact their mental health, and put them at risk of poor engagement and attendance, and leaving school prematurely
- Forge links between the school and families of students who show persistent absence from schooling to establish opportunities for support
- Work closely with leadership teams and student support teams to monitor school needs, identify students requiring support, and plan and evaluate services
- Consult with the Regional Wellbeing Workforce Team around planning and evaluation of services
While no formal qualifications are required, current or completed studies in human services would be considered highly desirable.
