Youth Worker

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Allied Health team at The Melbourne Clinic in Richmond, Melbourne. 

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified Full time Youth Worker to join our multidisciplinary team and provide evidence-based interventions to support a range of Mental Health conditions, including depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, eating disorders, OCD and neurodevelopmental conditions.

The Living Well Program offers a broad range of psychotherapeutic groups and activities, some including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Mindfulness, Relaxation, family therapy, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and psycho-education.

In this role you will be required to provide support, guidance, and assistance to young people (between the ages of 17 and 25) admitted to our Mental Health hospital.  As part of our team, the Youth Worker is responsible for facilitating evidence-based group therapy programs and providing individual or family sessions for young inpatients struggling with Mental Health issues, as required and referred. Our successful candidate will participate in the development and evaluation of policies and programs and demonstrate commitment to ongoing Quality Improvement Activates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate groups within the Living Well Program, the Young Adults program and other specialist programs as required,
  • Provide individual sessions to inpatients as required within programs,
  • Assist with the assessment of patients referred to the Young Adults program and other specialist programs for suitability,
  • Participate in the care planning and management of participants within the Living Well Program and other specialist programs,
  • Participate in the development and review of programs as necessary
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Activities. 

The successful applicant will report to the Living Well Program Manager and relevant Chief. You will work with the team to achieve operational goals and maintain clinical integrity of therapeutic programs

Selection Criteria

·       Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, or social work with a specialisation oin working with youth.

·       Eligibility for registration with AASW, YWA or ACWA, as relevant to profession

·       Current Working with Children Check

If you are successful in the role you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant Youth worker experience against the current Healthscope Victoria Allied Health Professionals agreement 2020-2022, a salary ranging from $41.1884 - $50.7558 an hour.
