This role is a newly created, multi-product technical position working closely with the Senior Accessory Designer on all accessories categories!
The position works collaboratively to develop accessories according to seasonal collections and company range plans and is responsible for driving the timeline for all accessories categories, which can include, but is not limited to:
Bags, Belts, Jewellery, Hats, Scarves, Towels, and other textile accessories, Keychains, Hair Accessories, and other small goods, Eyewear.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Setting up and maintenance of seasonal raw material WIP from development through to production handover.
- Materials ordering for prototypes and SMS for all Leather /Hardware / Trims, etc.
- Tracking Material development through daily supplier liaison, coordinating deliveries to various vendors and collating freight and invoicing for finance.
- Setting up and management of seasonal sample development WIP from P1 through to SMS and PPS stages.
- Adhere to design and production Critical Path considering seasonal. campaign shoots, runway shows, and sales calendars.
- Launching specs with suppliers and following progress alongside Senior Designer.
- Manage pre-production sample process and effectively communicate all style and quality specifications with suppliers.
- Manage costing process with Development Manager and in line with company expectations.
- Actively source new suppliers through online research and industry trade show research.
- Oversee seasonal range review meeting preparation with Development manager including sample coordination, line sheet information, and review of costings.
- Accessory Production: Play an active role in the approval process during production and work successfully to resolve problems as they arise.
- Prepare seasonal handover to production under the guidance of
Senior Designer and with the support of Design Assistant. - Potential travel may be required, for example, but not limited to overseas suppliers.
- Strong understanding accessory construction and high-end finishes.
- Understanding of costings.
- Experience in preparing and understanding technical
specifications. - Strong computer skills including, Microsoft Office
Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign. - Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels.
- A fashion design degree from an Australian or international
institution is desirable. - 3 years+ experience as a Product Developer in a similar
role.
