What we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a diligent and proactive Account Officer with a solid background in accounting and financial management to join our team in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, strong reconciliation skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and terminology. The candidate should be adept at managing vendor relationships, handling financial transactions, and providing comprehensive administrative support. What your day to day will look like (but not limited to!):
- Oversee and manage all accounts payable transactions, including invoice processing, verification, and reconciliation of purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Utilize Lightyear for efficient invoice processing across all sites and companies, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage vendor relationships, handling inquiries effectively and maintaining vendor files.
- Conduct comprehensive reconciliations of company credit card statements and perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Support the accounts receivable process by assisting in the follow-up on outstanding invoices and aiding in the collection process.
- Provide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, data entry, document management, and report preparation.
- Maintain and update accounting records and files, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, and manage the accounts@ email inbox, addressing queries promptly.
- Conduct training sessions and support the setup of new employees on accounting systems, including Xero, Lightyear, and Volopay, and continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems.
What makes you successful:
- High attention to detail and accurate reconciliation skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and administrative writing skills.
- Intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment, adopting a consultative and cooperative approach to your work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance
- 2+ years in an accounting role
- Knowledge of accounting terminology
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance
- Xero Accounting experience preferred
- Experience with credit card and bank reconciliations
- Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes
