Job description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant. The role is a permanent full time role and is based in Melbourne. The successful candidate will report to Director.
Main Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
1.Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including ledgers, journals, and other financial documentation.
2.Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a regular basis to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
3.Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts by analysing past financial data and trends, and provide recommendations for future financial planning.
4.Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes including invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
5.Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities.
6.Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support strategic decision-making.
7.Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
8.Auditing: Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed.
9.Financial Software Management: Utilize accounting software and other financial tools proficiently to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in financial management.
10.Ad Hoc Financial Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, such as process improvements, system implementations, or financial analysis projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance
• CPA certification preferred.
• Proven minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience as an accountant or similar role.
• Experience with Financial institute will be an additional advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
About the role: · The position will be located at Melbourne in person and some flexibility of working from home is available.
