The OpportunityWorking within our City Compliance team, the
Planning Compliance Officer is a full-time, ongoing position centred around conducting investigations into alleged breaches of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, and other relevant and authorised legislation. The incumbent of this role will support to educate and provide advice to both internal and external customers and stakeholders in relation to planning controls which apply throughout the Municipality.Key activities of this role include:
- Conducting investigations, resolving complaints and gathering evidence in a lawful manner.
- Undertaking appropriate communication with developers, residents and others to ensure town planning controls and provisions of relevant acts are met.
- Preparing recommendations and taking direction from the Team Leader, Planning Compliance in relation to active investigations.
- Preparing reports and briefs of evidence, responding to complex correspondence regarding non-compliance
- Utilising conflict resolution skills within a regulatory and enforcement framework whereby officers will have to manage difficult and complex conversations and respond to potentially emotional and poor behaviour.
About You- You have extensive experience in Planning Compliance and or planning or law enforcement and investigative procedures.
- You possess strong communication skills.
- You can demonstrate strong technical knowledge and application of planning legislation and or legal/legislative requirements combined with law enforcement procedures.
- You are resilient and have a demonstrated high level of emotional intelligence.
- You have a high level of self-motivation to complete complex, broad tasks and projects within agreed limitations and meet deadlines.
- You possess a strong level of investigative and analytical skills with the ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with conflict, complaints and enquiries.
