About the opportunity
Due to some recent changes within our Corporate Services team, we have new unique opportunity for a proactive Accountant to join us as a part of this team. This is a 12-month fixed-term full time contract position, with the potential to become permanent.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be working closely with program managers, providing support in all things finance and the management and reporting of expenses within funding limitations and ensuring compliance requirements. The key to success in this role will be taking the initiative to develop these relationships, getting to know and understand the business, and by demonstrating a big picture, strategic way of operating.
About you:
- Completion of a relevant degree qualification in Accounting/Finance
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar position
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of team
- Excellent computer skills inclusive of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook computing programs
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of accounting theories
- Proven ability to anticipate difficulties, resolve problems and make sound decision
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- High level of numerical and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand internal control practices and operate within those guidelines
Desirable skills and experience include:
- CA/CPA qualification desirable but not essential
- Previous experience with Technology One Financials software would be an advantage
Essential Requirements:
- Ability to obtain: Police clearance, Justice Clearance, Department of Education Clearance and Working with Children.
