We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time, fixed-term basis (12 months). Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting day-to-day activities of the department. This includes overseeing end-to-end AP functions across the group while ensuring you provide quality service for both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, you will provide general support to the Finance Manager by providing timely and accurate information to support the commercial decision-making process while ensuring the completeness of financial records, reporting and accounting processes.
This position is ideal for an experienced Accountant with a background in managing multiple entities or sites. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our accounting practices. We're dedicated to ongoing improvement, streamlining our processes to foster growth and better support our Operations teams. Ultimately, this will enhance the overall guest experience in all aspects of our work.
The day-to-day will include:
- Execution of weekly processes, including bank reconciliations, journal posting, other reconciliations and variance analysis, to ensure accuracy for internal reporting requirements.
- Work closely with the Junior Accountant to ensure accurate data entry and facilitate detailed cost analysis.
- Management of the POS system, including Inventory Management, and oversight of monthly stocktakes.
- Assist the Finance Manager with forecasting, budgeting, reporting and month-end-processes
- Manage regulatory compliance returns including State Revenue Office, Workers Compensation, Superannuation and ATO related returns
- Business partnering to ensure that reporting is accurate business risks are identified and internal controls are implemented
- Update Finance policies and procedures as required.
- Process month end journals
- Assist with bank reconciliations
- General project work as required
- A minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a similar role
- CA/CPA qualified.
- Relevant qualification in Finance or Accounting
- Hospitality experience and understanding of the unique industry demands is preferred but not essential.
- Experience using MYOB Advanced is advantageous
- Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Strong numerical reasoning skills
