Job description

About the role
The role will be supporting the Local Area Commander (LAC) as the Executive Assistant at Campaspe. The applicant will be responsible for all administration and correspondence for the LAC and assist in coordinating the Police Service Area (PSA) based meetings including external meetings. These meeting will include meeting with other government department and community groups and the applicant must possess excellent communication skills as they will be coordinating with local CEOs, members of parliament and department heads. The applicant will report directly to the VPS3 position (newly created) but will conducting the day-to-day activities for the LAC. They may be required to assist frontline administration officers with duties due to capacity issues. The applicant will also aid in emergency management situations by providing support in IPOCs to the LAC. The applicant will oversee the liquor licensing portfolio and assist with the Police Aboriginal Community Protocols Against Family Violence (PACPAFV) working alongside local agencies such as Njernda, Local Council, and The Orange Door.

As the successful applicant your duties will include
  • Manage the calendar of the LAC.
  • Set up and co-ordinate monthly management meetings including minutes, agenda, and action items.
  • Complete administration of files into and out of the office using station books.
  • Plan and co-ordinate local Police Service Area leave rosters, long service leave, and leave without pay applications.
  • Monitor the LAC PBEA email account disseminating files and allocating hardcopy files for liquor licensing files and other files as directed.
  • Provide the focal point for external customers trying to contact the LAC.
  • Co-ordinate the running of the conference room bookings for the PSA and arranging PSA based events such as awards ceremony and wellbeing days.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and written documents and submit purchasing orders to assist the LAC.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
  • A contemporary approach to their work.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office application skills in One note, Teams, Excel, Access and Word.
  • An ability to learn and adapt to the internal police systems such as interpose, PEEC, LEAP, and station books.
  • A strong work ethic and a mantra of looking for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and to be able to prioritise workloads and show flexibility and the ability to switch tasks as needed.
  • Professional written skills and verbal skills and be able to produce high quality written reports or presentations.
Requirements and relevant information
  • One full time, ongoing VPS2 position available
  • VPS2: $56,834 - $72,985 p.a. plus superannuation
  • The usual place of work will be Echuca Police Station 143-149 Anstruther Street Echuca. However, you may be expected to work out of any location within Western Region Division 5, as required.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
