Sharehouse Youth Programs is a local not-for-profit, community-based organisation in Townsville, North Queensland that provides innovative programs for at-risk young people (15-25 years old).
Each year Sharehouse assists hundreds of young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to gain housing, employment, stability, and independence. We recognise the individual circumstances of each young person and tailor our services and resources to their needs.
The Role:
Sharehouse is looking for a passionate Property Administration Officer to be part of our dynamic team. This role is responsible for the effective and efficient coordination of the property and administrative functions of the organisation, including tenancies, procurement, financial administration, and other associated tasks. This role is a part-time position for a 12 month contract with flexible hours for the right candidate.
The main duties for this role include:
- Coordinate all aspects of the tenancy management including tenancy agreements, inspections, property maintenance, issuing notices and liaising with relevant organisations, external and internal stakeholders.
- Rent reviews, rent collection, reconciliation and the minimisation of rental and damage arrears.
- Perform and oversee day-to-day internal accounting processes including invoicing, accounts receivable, payable and the reconciliation of accounts.
- Collaborate with the Team Leader – Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) and Operations Manager regarding housing allocations.
- In collaboration with the Operations Manager and Team Leader – SHS, establish and ensure compliance with all internal processes relating to property management, administration, and finance related activities.
- In collaboration with the Operations Manager complete quarterly and annual property reporting.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Thorough understanding of the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in property management or community/social/crisis housing.
- Well-developed administrative skills including attention to detail, maintaining accurate files, case notes, computer data records and report writing.
- Excellent time management skills, initiative and negotiation/problem solving skills
- Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite, Xero and other related systems or the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
- Highly developed interpersonal & communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including co-workers, families, government & community, health, education & welfare services.
- Demonstrated ability and experience working with at-risk young people including an understanding of the barriers, challenges and issues faced.
- Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively with young people and families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Essential Requirements:
- Queensland Working with Children Check issued by the Queensland Government Blue Card Services.
- A satisfactory Police Check.
- A current open driver's license.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
- Certificate IV in Social Housing (or willingness to obtain) or extensive experience in the sector.
- Experience in Property Management.
- Knowledge of Social Housing, Homelessness and Community Services.
- Current First Aid certificate including CPR (or willing to obtain one).
- Additional training in the areas of Family and Domestic Violence, Youth Mental First Aid and Cultural Awareness is desired.
