The DepartmentThe Alfred Health Emergency, Virtual care and Outpatients (EVO) Program is responsible for the delivery of emergency and paediatric clinical services across Alfred Health, as well as several other clinical support services.Alfred Health Emergency sees approximately 120,000 patients per annum across two Departments; the Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre (E&TC) manages approximately 75,000 patients, and the Sandringham Emergency Department manages approximately 45,000 patients each year.Sandringham Emergency Department is community focused and has an integrated Urgent Care Centre in addition to the emergency services through the main Emergency Department. The
Alfred E&TC is one of the state's busiest emergency departments, providing timely quality care to acutely unwell and injured Victorians as well as a variety of state-wide services for critically unwell Victorians.The EVO Program is responsible for several additional services that support the delivery of clinical care. These include GP Liaison Service, Health Information Service, Virtual Services (such as Telehealth support team and the Timely Management of Chest Pain Pilot), Specialist Clinics Support Unit and the Operations Support Unit.
The RoleThe Emergency & Trauma
Nurse Manager is a key leadership position within Alfred Health. The role is pivotal in the provision of leadership and ongoing strategic service development for The Emergency & Trauma Centre ensuring achievement of its clinical, operational and education, training and research & academic objectives. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of programs to complement and innovate new as well as existing services.Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient's Come First Strategy.It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research and Informatics.The
Nurse Manager is a professional and clinical leader in Nursing Services and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives. The
Nurse Manager operationalises the core values of Nursing at Alfred Health by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. She/He is accountable for developing staff to deliver excellence in clinical practice, and is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes.The
Nurse Manager facilitates effective patient access to clinical services managing both financial and human resources to meet these needs.
Qualifications & Experience Required- Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
- Degree in healthcare / business management or working towards same.
- Recent extensive clinical nursing experience in relevant health service.
- Current and satisfactory Police Check
- Current and satisfactory Working With Children Check
