AO5 Senior Information Access Officer

QLD Government seeking a AO5 Senior Information Access Officer for a temporary contract starting ASAP

Your new company 
Hays Recruitment are pleased to support the recruitment of a highly motivated professional Senior Information Access Officer (AO5) to work within the Queensland Government, based in Cairns. This is an ongoing temporary position Monday – Friday for 3 months.
Your new role 
As the Senior Information Access Officer, you will coordinate and process the Information Access functions of the department including requests for information via release mechanisms such as Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld), Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Administrative Access Scheme.

Understand, interpret, and apply policy and legislation under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld), Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld)

Coordinate and participate in internal and external reviews of right to information and information privacy decisions and coordinate mandatory statutory reporting.

Assess and exercise delegated decision-making power under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) regarding access, amendments and release of documents held by the department

What you'll need to succeed 
To succeed in this role, you will have a high-level working knowledge of State and Commonwealth legislation and policies relating to access and disclosure of information. As well as demonstrated experience and ability to process release of information applications under the relevant legislation.

Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, including internal stakeholders, other government departments and members of the public, whilst ensuring confidentiality, diplomacy, and discretion.

Demonstrated an ability to prioritise work to meet statutory deadlines and a high degree of initiative, decision making ability and negotiation skills with the ability to operate with limited supervision.

Knowledge of information systems (e.g. HBCIS, Auslab, CIMHA, Microsoft suite) as well as specific Information Access supporting software such as Redax, eDRMS/Content Manager are highly desirable.
