Brief Summary of role:
To assist the Venndale Residential Rehabilitation facility with the delivery of a flexible, holistic, and culturally sensitive change and recovery program with a primary focus on alcohol and other drugs, health management and life skills by enabling better access to AOD services for Indigenous people in the community. AOD Administration Trainee will be an important advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people accessing Venndale’s Residential Rehabilitation program and will be responsible for ensuring cultural inclusivity by supporting the AOD team in an Administrative role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise, engage, and collaborate with participants and relevant personnel both internally and externally to link to and assist with access too, culturally responsive and inclusive services.
- Act as a link between Aboriginal and Torres Strait participants and support services
- Assist and support delivery of AOD services by following up clients’ appointments and assisting with interpretation of the admissions processes.
- Be the first point of contact for participants attending the Venndale Rehabilitation Facility.
- Assist with administrative duties, which include making appointments, receive telephone calls and coordinate messages to the AOD team.
- Work collaboratively with and provide assistance to the Admin/Logistics Coordinator in the daily administrative operations of the facility.
Remuneration package:
Employment Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $64,000 - $69,000 per annum (pro-rata)
Entitlements/Benefits: 6 Weeks Annual Leave + 2 Weeks Sick Leave + 2 Weeks Ancillary Leave + 1 RDO per Month
Location: Venndale Rehabilitation Centre, 30km from Katherine
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week – 7.5 hours per day [Monday to Friday | 08:00am – 4:30pm]
The successful applicant should possess the following attributes, skills and competencies.
• A certificate in AOD or a willingness to undertake a traineeship to gain a Certificate in AOD
• Demonstrate an empathy with Aboriginal people, and an understanding and knowledge of local Aboriginal cultures, as well as current and complex issues.
• Competency with written and oral communication, including cross-cultural awareness.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cultural beliefs, kinship, and Aboriginal culture
• Good verbal and written communication skills and can communicate and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Working knowledge of continuous quality improvement through attention to detail and finished work.
• Quick learner with good time-management skills
• Working knowledge of Work, Health and Safety standards.
• Covid-19 Vaccinated
• Current NT Drivers Licence, National Police Check and Ochre Card.
