An APS5 Health Practice Manager is accountable to perform and achieve complex administrative work to support the delivery of health care services within an integrated workforce. They require a well developed understanding of relevant legislative frameworks, government decision making and policy requirements.
An APS5 Health Practice Manager will be accountable for organising their workflow and making decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the allied health function area based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessment, investigations and perform procedural, clerical, administrative support work to achieve results.
This position is responsible to set work priorities, manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for improvement. This position has considerable level of stakeholder engagement and has to liaise with stakeholders regarding complex issues.
The successful candidate will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
About our Team
Joint Health Command (JHC) is responsible for the delivery of military medicine and joint healthcare services to over 70,000 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. JHC is also responsible for the health preparedness of ADF personnel for operations, and the coordination of health units for deployment in support of operations.
The APS5 Health Practice Manager position is part of Joint Health Unit – Southern NSW within JHC and is based at Kapooka Health Centre (Wagga Wagga). The staff in the facility and across the Wagga Wagga region are a blended workforce of military, contract and APS personnel working together as one team. The demographic in the area consists of a wide range of ADF members, from trainees through to Senior leadership, from under 18 years of age to retirement age.
As a key leadership position in the Health Centre the successful candidate will be working with a multidisciplinary health professional team involving GPs/medical officers, nurse practitioners, registered and enrolled nurses, physiotherapists, dentists, mental health clinicians, occupational rehabilitation coordinators, health clerks and an inpatient facility. The APS5 Health Practice Manager will be expected to provide expert advice on a range of complex administrative issues to support organisational requirements. The position report directly to the KAPHC Health Centre Manager (HCM).
