Intelligence Analyst and APS5
Intelligence Analyst. As a member of the Integrity Operations section, you will use leadership skills to engage with stakeholders and conduct intelligence gathering and data analytical capabilities to detect suspected non-compliance and suspected fraud with DVA programs and services, and across other agencies. These roles fulfil a vital element of DVAs fraud detection capabilities and serve to protect public funds from illegal activities, error and loss.
DutiesAs an APS5
Intelligence Analyst you will:
- Draw on professional experience in identifying and gathering relevant information from diverse inter and intra-departmental, and open sources.
- Undertake objective and systematic analysis of complex data sets to detect multifaceted and interconnected fraud and non-compliance issues across payments, programs and services at a macro level.
- Assess the validity and reliability of information and data collected.
- Monitor progress of intelligence products and cycles.
- Maintain an awareness of DVA’s fraud risk environment.
- Work cooperatively with others teams in the Integrity, Security & Property Branch to effectively counter fraud.
As an APS
5 Investigator you will:
- Lead and conduct complex and sensitive criminal investigations and associated practice and procedures, including conducting formal Record of Interviews, Witness Interviews, Evidence Collection and preparing Briefs of Evidence.
- Ensuring the preparation of briefs and written information is of the highest quality.
- Actively plan, prioritise and monitor own work.
- Providing complex technical support during investigations, including interpreting and evaluating information that assists other employees.
- Maintain an awareness of DVAs fraud risk environment, the contemporary criminal environment including new and emerging threats, and nationally significant criminal activity to identify priorities including targeting opportunities for law enforcement.
- Support inter-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison to maintain productive networks and to promote information sharing, partnerships and common understanding.
- Monitor, analyse and report on fraud risks and threats in line with DVA requirements.
Eligibility
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
Mandatory Requirements
- Applicants must be able to evidence a successful completion of or have the ability to obtain a Certificate IV Government Investigations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance. This is a security-designated position. Continued employment with the department requires the successful candidate to maintain a security clearance. Failure to obtain and/or loss of a security clearance at any time may lead to termination of employment.
