Joint Proof and Experimental Unit Data Acquisition Support Test Officers work within the Joint Proof and Experimental Headquarters supporting guided weapon and explosive ordnance (GWEO) test.
Seeking candidates for both Graytown VIC and Port Wakefield SA locations. JPEU is looking for an agile and enthusiastic Data AcquisitionTechnical Officer who possesses strong technical, communication and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to achieving organisational goals and objectives. Importantly, they will have the ability to develop good relationships and support networks across a wide array of stakeholders.
Key skill requirements that support the team may include:
- Technical photography including digital still and high-speed imagery
- Survey and geo-spatial engineering
- Radar operation and ballistics tracking
- Pressure measurement
- Analysis of trial results
- Post processing of imagery
This Data Acquisition Support Team directly supports GWEO testing, through the capture and collection of ballistics and explosive test data. The Team has a range of specialisations including imagery; both still and high speed, radar and survey systems and pressure collection equipment. The Team is responsible for the establishment and operation of equipment on explosive trial sites including ballistic tracking systems, splash detection cameras and pressure capture equipment. The team has a dynamic workload spread across a range of responsibilities including the setting up of trial sites, placing equipment to ensure that data is captured, as well as data and imagery post processing for release to customers.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in data collection and laboratory process management that can be adapted to the explosive test domain. Furthermore, an understanding and experience in measurement practices and data collection design and test and evaluation activities would be beneficial. An understanding of Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies would be also be advantageous.
Our ideal candidate is a technician or engineer who can adapt their current skill sets to the explosives domain. The successful candidate takes the initiative to achieve quality test outcomes; focusing on design, delivery and assurance of data capture plans that achieve operational outcomes. They will be dynamic and keen to continuously improve systems and processes in an effort to ensure that lean methodologies are used by the team and organisation.
The successful candidate will be proficient in the use a wide range of tools to aid in carrying out their work such as Microsoft Office tools, video and image processing software and other IT systems.
