Located at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Williamtown, the Air Warfare Systems Program Office (AWSPO) leads and manages a program portfolio of highly complex projects and products in support of Air Force capability. AWSPO, in partnership with industry, deliver Lead-in-Fighter, Advanced Training and Test Environment and Combat Control Capabilities in support of Air Combat Group and Air Warfare Centre. As the APS 6Deputy Project/Product Manager, you will have an essential role in delivering projects to improve Defence’s capability.
This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) regulations.
An APS 6Project / Product Manager performs project / program work within an integrated workforce. You need to have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
As an APS 6Project / Product Manager you will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and the achievement of outcomes of your work. You will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. You will provide detailed administration, professional and policy advice in relation to work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
As an APS6 Project / Product Manager you may be a team coach or lead a team and set work priorities and manage workflows. You will be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. You may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.
As an APS6 Project / Product Manager you will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to work issues. You will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. You will contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
