Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The NDIA is seeking highly motivated professionals to join the agency as APS5 Executive Assistants. Reporting providing quality administrative, secretarial and research services to our Senior Executive Service (SES) members. As an APS5 Executive Assistant, you will be responsible for undertaking moderately complex to complex work, making independent decisions relating to your area of responsibility, and providing policy advice within your area of specialisation. You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of professionals and evolve your role to include additional division specific tasks. This role can be worked flexibly with a variety of work from home and flexible work hours available to the successful applicants. Where you can add value
You will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of the executive office, organising, and prioritising tasks, and acting as a liaison between the executive and other areas within the agency. Responsibilities of the role may include but are not limited to:
Managing emails, appointments and preparing briefing materials.
Scheduling meetings, preparing reports and documents relating to committees and projects.
Maintaining a well-developed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
Organising travel arrangements and supporting official functions on behalf of the General Manager, and other agency staff as directed.
Identifying and contributing to the resolution of issues and problems as they arise.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
We are seeking experienced and highly motivated APS5 Executive Assistants with excellent communication skills, high attention to detail and the ability to make decisions and work independently. The role can be a challenging and rewarding, you will be organised, proactive, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment. While experience in an Executive Assistant role or the APS is desirable, it is not essential. Commitment to service and delivering quality work is crucial. Additionally, you must have a positive attitude towards people with disabilities, an understanding of disability's impact on participants, be able to manage confidential information, be adaptable to change, and uphold integrity and professionalism to align with our values and mission.

While this role is ideally performed from Chatswood, Brisbane, Townsville, Geelong or Richmond, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
