Position Description

The Parliamentary Services and Media team supports the Commission’s public accountability through effective engagement with parliamentary processes, the Minister’s office, and the media. The team provides support through briefings, responses to questions on notice, draft correspondence, and information in response to issues raised with the Minister and Members of Parliament.

Position Duties

As Coordinator, Parliamentary Services and Media, you will work within a small team to coordinate, research and draft high quality written responses and briefings in a Ministerial context and support the functions of the team, while following established processes and meeting timeframes.

Key Accountabilities

•          Liaising with key stakeholders to prepare high-quality written briefings, correspondence and other documents within set timeframes, following style guides and templates.

•          Self-manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and team goals.

•          Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

•          Use judgement to monitor, triage and escalate issues in a timely way.

•          Use and maintain systems and processes to track and report.

•          Perform other duties in line with the classification and objectives of the Commission.

Position Eligibility Requirements

Key Capabilities

•          Excellent attention to detail and experience preparing high quality written material, including Ministerial briefings and correspondence.

•          Well-developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to consult with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

•          Sound judgement skills, with the ability to research, critically evaluate and synthesise information into considered advice.

•          Ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-moving environment and work independently and as part of a team.

•          Willingness to learn and maintain business and sector knowledge relevant to the role.

•          Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or knowledge, skills and experience.

Position Notes

Salary offered will be between $89,394 and $100,849* per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid. *Note; these figures do not include the newly agreed APS Enterprise Agreement bargaining pay offer.
