About the Team:
The Finance Branch is responsible for the financial management of the Agency and Scheme and provides insightful financial reporting to enable strategic decision making.
Key accountabilities include producing audited annual financial statements, the Annual Report, budgets, monthly financial reports and forecasts. The branch manage the maintenance and development of finance systems, analysing financial performance, and providing financial advice to support decision making and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
About the role:
The APS6 Finance Officer will provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency's objectives
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Analysing and interpreting statistical reports to assist with the development of work plans and strategic planning.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects.
- Coordinating and providing cost estimates for all internal and external requests for changes to systems. Developing correspondence for stakeholders, such as financial reports, corporate documentation and responses to ministerial submissions.
- Exercising appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
- Managing quality assurance activities and outcomes including the use of integrity/error reporting and the coordination of quality audits.
- Preparing a range of written material including business cases, reports and corporate documentation.
- Undertaking quality assurance of feasibility and cost estimates, assumptions and justifications.
- Undertaking detailed financial analysis of branch/division's variance to budget and forecast.
- Undertaking financial administration and across the division's cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals
- Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations.
- Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one.
- Preparing credit card, accounts payable, debtors and employee debt reports.
- Shared Services Volumetric Reporting and reconciliations to confirm the accuracy of AP, AR and CC volumes reported by Services Australia.
- Following up outstanding AP/AR and credit card transactions.
- Preparing support for direct payments.
- Liaising with Services Australia to discuss AP, AR and credit card improvements and issues.
- Managing the Finance Service Desk for AP, AR and credit card to ensure requests are being resolved efficiently and identify improvements.
- Analyse Services Requests to identify key issues and compile educational material and updates to SOPs, Finance Policies and Confluence FAQ's, processes, and procedures.
- Preparing the Agency Employee Debts Reports.
- Preparing AP, AR, and Credit Card slides for inclusion in Executive pack.
