Job description

Join one of the largest State Government agencies, committed to excellence, innovation, and serving the community with integrity. Our Corporate Finance department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and efficiency of our operations.

About the Role:

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping budgetary processes and contributing to the preparation of State Budget documents. You'll conduct in-depth analysis of key performance indicators, offering professional support on budget-related matters. Responsibilities include enhancing budgetary processes and systems, ensuring strict compliance with statutory requirements, and implementing changes to the budget model accurately. Additionally, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of policies for efficient financial systems.

As part of our continuous improvement strategies, you will identify and implement enhancements within the Corporate Finance division. You'll lead project-based work with strategic financial expertise, supporting integration across the Division and Portfolio. Timely and accurate delivery of financial and management reports is a key aspect of your role.

To achieve Finance Division objectives, you will provide direction and support. Your responsibilities extend to mentoring and coaching team members to ensure timely and budget-conscious results. As a proactive member of the team, you will champion change management initiatives and contribute actively to broader Division functions and business plans.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, economics, or a related financial management field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the preparation and submission of materials for whole-of-government budgetary processes, including State Budget papers (Agency Statements).
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting standards, structures, and practices, including public sector financial frameworks, legislation, and processes.
  • Proficiency in the Budget and Monitoring System (BMS)
