The Finance Officer contributes to the provision of high standards of customer service to both internal and external customers.
The Finance Officer plays a crucial role in the efficient and cost effective financial services, including payroll, accounts payable and asset management, to the Houses of Parliament and Divisions of the Joint Parliamentary Service.

Key Selection Criteria
- Ability to work as a member of a small team and contribute to a spirit of team cooperation, ensuring that work performed meets required standards of quality, timeliness and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate and effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of staff, Parliamentary members, outside agencies and the public, as required.
- Ability to work under demanding time constraints and competing priorities and to meet imposed and self imposed deadlines.
- Ability to apply and further develop analytical and financial skills.
- Ability to deal with change, having a positive attitude to change and being receptive to new ideas and changing environments.
- Effective and timely response to the requirements of internal and external customers.
- Experience with personal computer applications, including database, spreadsheet and word processing packages.
- Experience in dealing with information in the context of data collection, data analysis and report writing.
- Knowledge of contemporary commercial accounting techniques and procedures, especially the accrual basis of accounting.
- Knowledge of accounting controls and reconciliation practices.

Special Conditions for Employment
