The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in using desktop GIS for Asset Data capture, and spatial/Asset Data management, analysis, mapping and reporting. As well as strong customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication and skills in managing time, setting priorities and planning / organising own work.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Collate, capture, and digitise Council’s Asset Data into Council’s Asset Management Systems and Geographic Information Systems.
- Undertake and project manage the capture of assets and asset condition data in the field.
- Improve the integrity of information held within Council’s Asset Management Systems and Geographic Information Systems, by participating in quality assurance programs, and documenting metadata.
- Provide assistance with the development and review of asset and GIS related policies, strategies and plans.
- Provision of spatial data analysis, reporting and mapping in a timely and cost effective manner to internal and external customers.
- Update corporate systems with data updates from external agencies and the provision of data to third parties (Government agencies, Utilities and Consultants).
- Deliver initiatives from the Geographic Information Systems and Assets service plans, including training and support of systems and data.
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position (e.g. Spatial Sciences, Surveying, Engineering) and some relevant experience in Asset Management and GIS, or a lesser formal qualification and substantial relevant experience.
- Experience in and knowledge of Asset Management principles, and infrastructure design, construction and maintenance processes in a Local Government environment.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in using desktop Geographic Information Systems for Asset Data capture, and spatial/Asset Data management, analysis, mapping and reporting.
- Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Office particularly Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical advice, support and training to staff on AMS and/or GIS.
- Working knowledge of Asset Management Systems (Assetic products or similar).
- Strong customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Skills in managing time, setting priorities and planning and organising own work.
- Ability to respond to changing priorities and able to complete tasks within tight timeframes.
- A current Victorian drivers license.
