Asset Data Officer

Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Band 5 Asset Data Officer for a 6-month temporary contract assignment

As a Asset Data Officer you will provide support to the Asset Management and GIS Team, through the capturing of subdivisional, capital and found assets to update and improve Council’s physical asset base and provide data maintenance support for Council Asset Data.

Duties will include but not limited to:

• Collate, capture, and digitise Council’s Asset Data into Council’s Asset Management Systems and Geographic Information Systems.
• Support data capture documentation, design and mapping programs to ensure data collected is of a high standard.
• Provide specialist advice and knowledge to staff in relation to Asset Management Systems and Geographic Information Systems, and their capabilities.
• Improve the integrity of information held within Council’s Asset Management Systems and Geographic Information Systems, by participating in quality assurance programs, and documenting metadata.
• Undertaken field data collection and auditing to ensure the accuracy of Council Asset Data.

Requirements include:

• Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position (e.g. Spatial Sciences, Surveying, Engineering) and some relevant experience in Asset Management and GIS, or a lesser formal qualification and substantial relevant experience.
• Experience in and knowledge of Asset Management principles, and infrastructure design, construction and maintenance processes in a Local Government environment.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in using desktop Geographic Information Systems for Asset Data capture, and spatial/Asset Data management, analysis, mapping and reporting.
• Strong customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Skills in managing time, setting priorities and planning and organising own work.
• Ability to respond to changing priorities and able to complete tasks within tight timeframes.
• A current Victorian drivers license.
