Asset Management System Specialist

Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is looking for an Asset Management Systems Specialist. This role will help ensure our Asset Management suite of around 10 integrated applications, underpinned by Maximo, run continuously and improve with evolving business needs.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the broader RTS Technology team which provides delivery and support services for all of RTS. This role will suit someone with a technical background in Asset Management systems, ideally in a Rail or Engineering context, ideally using Maximo. Downer has long-term contracts to maintain over 200 trains. Our world class Asset Management services hundreds of users 24x7 largely based in Train Maintenance sites in NSW and VIC, soon to be joined by QLD.

This role can be based in Auburn NSW or Pakenham VIC. Must be flexible to travel to all our NSW and VIC sites regularly.

Key responsibilities:

• Contribute to the continuous service of all our applications.
• Help the preferred supplier and its partners deliver on their Service Level Agreements.
• Contribute to the business by driving new value through continuous improvement of our applications and how they are used.
• Identify opportunities to improve the systems or processes, thus add to the pipeline of changes to be qualified.
• Work with the team to develop high quality solution design documentation.
• Regularly report on task progress, assisting other team members with any blockers/constraints/challenges.
• Conduct peer reviews of documentation, code and solution design.
• Help qualify the pipeline of changes for feasibility and value.

About you:

• You have in-depth knowledge of Asset Management Systems, with experience in the Rolling Stock domain being highly regarded.
• You can advise on best practice regarding implementing solutions on the Maximo Platform.
• You have implemented solutions for Maximo including managing workflow, automation scripts, data loading and configuration.
• You have experience solutions with API protocols: XML, SOAP, RESTful APIs and JSON
• You understand the Maximo packages (esp Transportation and Configuration Management)
• You understand the applications which support the Maximo Platform (e.g. WebSphere Application Server and Maximo Integration Framework).
• You have experience with testing large-scale Asset Management systems.
• You are user-focused with strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate.
• You are qualified in the relevant discipline (e.g. bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or Software Engineering).
