Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Accountant/bookkeeper to provide accounting support to the Financial Controller. This will be a standalone role and the right candidate will need to be capable of stepping into a challenging role with minimal training, have the ability to work autonomously, be proactive and results-oriented with exceptional attention to detail. 

Reporting to the Financial Controller you will:

• Process invoices and payments using XERO 
• Processing accounts receivable and payable in a timely manner
• Allocate invoices to correct projects and account codes with a high attention to detail
• Prepare and process EFT batches and cheques and other ad hoc payments
• Complete daily & monthly Bank reconciliations across entities
• Manage intercompany reconciliations and settlement Journals
• Complete month end closing process
• Assist with BAS preparation
• Assist with preparation of ad-hoc financial reports
• Assist FC and directors with meeting statutory obligations
• Additional ad-hoc tasks as required

What you'll need to succeed:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or tertiary qualifications in accounting
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• A strong demonstrable understanding of Xero accounting software
• The ability to analyse financial data
• Strong analytical and organisational skills
• Outstanding attention to detail and reconciliation skills
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
