Assistant Accountant - Royalties

UMA is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their tight knit and high performing Royalties team. We support culture though the power of artistry and believe that every team within UMA plays a role in this unique and inspiring company vision. Reporting to the Royalty Controller, and working directly with both Royalties and Finance, this position will be fundamental in managing the accounts payable process and providing general support to the broader Royalties team.

The role

• Facilitate payment of any A&R amounts to artists and labels, including coding and reconciliations to Accounting System.
• Assist with Accounts Payable function in conjunction with outsourced AP team.
• Preparation of 3rd party deal accounting – JVs and distribution deals.
• Preparation of journals for Royalty Controller review
• General Assistance with Royalties accounts/Artist Sub Ledgers (ASL) maintenance, contract filing, shared inbox management.
• Assist with the input and maintenance of project and budget data in UMG’s finance systems
• Creation of ASL within the Accounting System
• Manage collection of all Licensing Income, including preparation of sundry invoices
• Manage queries with 3rd parties on the accuracy of statements and other accounting
• Assist with withholding tax payments
• Provide generalist, admin support for month end process
• Collate balance sheet reconciliations from team for managers review
• Assist with internal and external audits
• Assist with general reporting for Royalties
• Ad hoc tasks as required

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance
• Strong Excel Skills
• +2 years’ experience in a commercial and high volume processing environment
• Systems aptitude (SAP is strongly preferred but not a dealbreaker!)
• Strong learning agility and the ability to learn quickly
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
• Proactive and able to take ownership of assigned responsibilities
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
