State Sales Representative (Horticulture)

Key Purpose:Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager based at Tyabb on the Mornington Peninsula – you will use your production nursery experience to become a trusted adviser to other nurseries & customers. With training provided from us, you will be able to make recommendations to provide customised products tailored to the needs of each customer.
You will be required to manage, retain and seek opportunities for growth in the revenue & profit base for accounts across Victoria in line with the strategic plan and budget projections. You will also review the service requirements of customers to ensure that the Company is providing effective and efficient solutions to exceed their needs.
Responsibilities:The role:
- Manage existing accounts whilst growing and establishing new business across Victoria using a combination of account management & business development processes.
- Achieve personal budget at profitable margins.
- Develop extensive knowledge of customers’ businesses, their customers and their critical business issues.
- Maintain an existing portfolio of account customers whilst managing portfolio profitability and building new business.
- Provide support and information to customers as required, including providing technical advice on product formulations to enhance performance.
- Promptly and effectively handle & investigate customer complaints.
- Troubleshoot client problems as they arise and ensure their ongoing satisfaction.
- Prepare and submit proposals offering solutions to meet service and/or performance requirements.
- Provide existing and potential customers with full information regarding value-added services across the full range of products.
- Ensure that the company can meet the requirements of the contract / customer agreement.
- Keep abreast of selling features and sales advantages that the company enjoys over competitors.
- Prepare and submit weekly / monthly reports as required by Management.
- Manage the profitability of portfolio accounts in conjunction with the Commercial Business Manager.
- Work collaboratively with the operations & quality teams to ensure customer expectations are met consistently.
- 5-7 years of experience as a grower in a commercial scale horticultural production nursery.
- Industry experience across horticulture, hydroponics and/or agronomy will also be considered.
- Technical understanding of potting mix & nutrient formulations required during the different stages of plant growth & development would be highly desirable.
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with existing and new customers to build sales.
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills. Good organisational and time management skills in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written proposals.
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite.
- Self-motivated, able to learn and take initiative.
- Understanding of and ability to sell a complete product range.
- Current Drivers licence.
- Salary depending on experience, plus Superannuation.
- Fully maintained company vehicle provided.
- Tools of trade including Mobile phone + laptop.
