Your opportunity
The Biosecurity Officer will survey for and educate on biosecurity matters as well as enforcing the Biosecurity Act 2014 by identifying restricted and prohibited invasive Biosecurity matter (pest plants and pest animals) and ensuring compliance with Council’s Local Laws and State legislation whilst providing a high level of customer service to the residents of Redland City. A typical day in this role revolves around patrolling, investigating, conducting surveys, gathering evidence, taking appropriate action and issuing the necessary notices to obtain compliance.

What you’ll bring

We are seeking applicants with Biosecurity knowledge to administer issues associated with Council’s Biosecurity Plan, Biosecurity Act, other State legislation and Council’s Local Laws. Strong case coordination and time management skills are required, along with the ability to handle competing priorities, and work without close supervision.
Excellent community and customer service skills with the capability to relate to stakeholders and effectively deal with sensitive enforcement and compliance issues is essential to this role. Well developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with past negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution experience will be highly desirable.

Eligibility
- You'll have a current C class drivers licence.
- You'll have a certificate in Conservation and Land Management.
- You'll be eligible to obtain a Blue Card (Working with children under the age of 18).
