Smile Solutions, "Melbourne's Home of Dentistry"™, is Australia’s largest and most commended dental practice, located in the magnificent Manchester Unity Building in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. Our dental business is expanding, with our partner Core Dental Group branching out into practices across Victoria.
The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Bookkeeper to provide support to our fast-paced accounts department. To be suitable for this role you must have prior bookkeeping experience, be a motivated self-starter, quick learner, ability to manage tight deadlines and be prepared to deal with high volumes of transactions and queries.
This role is a fixed-term position that has become available due to staff parental leave, with the possibility of extension. This could be a good opportunity for candidates on a working holiday visa with 6 month work restrictions.
The Role
As the Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:
- Prepare bank, credit card and petty cash reconciliations and assuring information is accurate and correct, including investigating any problems and finding solutions where variances occur.
- Recording cash receipts and handling bank deposits.
- Data entry of invoices into Reckon.
- Statement matching and checking to invoices.
- Maintain accurate and up to date financial records.
- Handling accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, posting, recording and reconciling accounts.
- Prepare BAS and statutory lodgments, as required.
- Provide administrative and clerical support as needed.
- Additional bookkeeping and administrative duties as designated by management and the wider finance team.
- Streamline processes, as required.
About You
You will have experience working in a similar ‘hands-on’ role. Additionally, you will also be required to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum 3 years’ bookkeeping in a similar position.
- High attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Excellent communication skills and experience with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to multi-task, work reliably, both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Accounting software experience with Reckon will be highly regarded (but not essential).
