Job Summary 

We are seeking an energetic, highly organised and detail-oriented Part-Time or Casual Bookkeeper to join our start-up team. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently manage financial records. Reporting to the Head of Business & Finance, the Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. With flexible and hybrid working arrangements available including working around school hours, we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Process payroll and reimbursements for employees accurately and on time
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll tax and superannuation requirements. 
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly tax filings (BAS & IAS) in compliance with Australian tax regulations
  • Assist with cash flow and revenue forecasting
  • Manage all Accounts Payable
  • Assist the sales and commercial functions with follow-up of Accounts Receivable and invoice creation
  • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and ensure timely implementation of any necessary adjustments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero
  • Organise and file financial documents in a systematic manner
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to gather necessary financial information
  • Respond to queries and provide financial information as required
  • Assist team members with data entry into critical business systems including Salesforce

 

Required Experience 

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Australian accounting principles and tax regulations
  • Experience with accounting software, particularly Xero 
  • Experience with HR software (Employment Hero preferred) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant office applications 
  • Experience with Salesforce not required but will be considered an advantage
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing and associated tax obligations
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
