About VMIA
Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) is the Victorian Government's insurer and risk adviser, covering the people and projects that help Victorians thrive. We're an agency in the Department of Treasury and Finance portfolio, established under the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority Act, and report to the Assistant Treasurer.
We provide insurance and risk advice to government departments and agencies, with more than 4,600 clients, ranging from small community service organisations to public hospitals, schools, and core service providers. We also provide domestic building insurance to builders, giving Victorian homeowners peace of mind for building projects valued over $16,000.
We help our clients prepare for, prevent, or reduce the impact of harm. When things don't go to plan, we help clients restore services and recover quickly.

Your role
As a Business Architect, you analyse, design, and develop Pega Applications and other Products and Platforms. You define requirements and assist with workflow design, including inter-application interactions between the platform and other systems. You're also involved in designing structured Pega applications that meet business requirements.
You ensure the application quality, design, and build meets current business needs but also supports future expansion for new features.
You are involved in all phases of Pega and platform development life cycle and lead all business requirements, user journey design and contribute on configuration, development and deployment activities and ensure the quality deliverables of our Pega applications.
Your role reports to the Manager, Business & Functional Architect in the IT Division.
What you do

  • You identify and document objectives and business requirements, user stories, use cases and process design in Pega using Direct Capture of Objectives (DCO)
  • You lead, plan, and facilitate workshops and elaborations with the business and end users to capture requirements and objectives.
  • You lead the activity on recording and developing user specifications. You link specifications to implementation artefacts, requirements, and objectives within Pega and other Products and Platforms
  • You apply and promote Pega best practice design standards to deliver robust applications.
  • You actively participate in the Pega application build phases, producing high-quality deliverables.
  • You conduct quality reviews and walk-throughs, assist with system testing (UAT and QA), and support the team in the application in QA and production environments.
  • You are involved in managing and ensuring structured delivery processes via adaptation of Agile, DevOps, CICD, QA, Change and Release Management approaches and methodology are applied.
  • You support in resolving applications incident and problem management process as an escalation point to assist in resolving bugs and issues.
  • You maintain currency of Pega Applications and other relevant Products and Platforms system documentations and artefacts.
Who you work with
You will work closely with the following internal and external stakeholders:
Internal
  • Enterprise Systems team – partner with the team to deliver and continuously improve on our Core.
  • Insurance, Risk and Client Engagement Platform (Client360) build on Pega and other relevant Enterprise Systems Platform
  • Project Delivery Team – engage with the team to develop and deliver our Core Insurance, Risk and Client Engagement Platform (Client360)
  • Liaise with other business stakeholders, including but not limited to Service Delivery, Insurance Services, Client Advisory Team, Renewal Project Team, and Risk Advisers.
External
  • Liaise with third-party software vendor and IT Consultancy firms to ensure systems and application achieve cost-efficient and quality outcomes.
About you
  • At least 3 years' experience supporting software development efforts, specialising in business requirements and other related business analysis activities.
  • Proven experience in using the Pega platform for application design and different phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment as well as Agile Development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Agile delivery methods and ways of working (Scrum, Sprints, Kanban)
  • Experience partnering with business users and IT teams: quality assurance and production support groups.
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) and the requirement management lifecycle
  • Ability to quickly understand operational needs, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Experience in the design and model process flows and process improvement using DCO in the Pega tool.
  • Proactively seek new opportunities and innovations to improve the team's programme of work.
  • Sound facilitation skills to facilitate stakeholder discussions to identify and address stakeholder needs.
  • Hands-on experience with Pega 8.X versions of Pega including supporting components such as Agile Studio and App Studio
  • Experience in Pega CRM and Insurance Strategic Applications is highly desirable.
