The Company
Robert Half Executive Search has been retained to identify and appoint a Business Development Manager for one of the major commercial producers & suppliers of vegetable and tree seedlings in Australia. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring the incumbent to spend time at the head office and plant in Toowoomba, Queensland.
The Company
Our client is a major commercial supplier of vegetable and tree seedlings to the East coast of Australia and forms an integral link in the supply of fresh food throughout Australia. The organisation grows a large variety of vegetable seedlings and has a proven capacity to produce wholesale orders for its customers. This is an exciting time to join the business as it continues to develop additional innovative service offerings.
The organisation is working together with its shareholder groups to enhance the application of technology and robotics to improve production efficiency, such as the automation of seeding, sorting, grafting, monitoring, watering, and feeding the seedlings. Capitalising on the growing demand in Australia for environmental planting driven by upcoming carbon projects, the business will also look to expand with targeted environmental planting projects to facilitate strong growth opportunities in the carbon offset plantings market.
The Role
This newly created stand alone role will focus on expanding market presence in the Lockyer Valley and maintaining excellent customer relationships with existing ones. A large portion of your time will be on the road visiting new and prospective clients, and while the Lockyer Valley will be your prime focus, you will also be travelling as far north as Bowen and as far south as Adelaide.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence.
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through market research, networking, and prospecting activities.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, seed companies and industry stakeholders to drive customer loyalty and retention.
- Collaborating with cross functional teams to develop innovative seedling offerings and solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of our customers.
- Monitoring and analysing sales performance metrics, market trends and competitive activities to identify areas for growth and improvement.
- Representing the company at industry events, trade shows and conferences to promote the company and enhance brand visibility.
- Providing regular updates and reports to executive management on sales activities, pipeline development and market insights.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate for this position should possess extensive experience in Agriculture, specifically in the agronomic or horticultural industry, ideally having worked in a nursery.
You will have a proven track record in sales that combines fostering excellent relationships with existing customers and developing new businesses.
