Your Opportunity

We are looking to recruit a Business Development Team Leader in our Business Development Team on a permanent full-time basis. The base location of this role is negotiable across our Toowoomba, Ipswich or Springfield campus, however the appointed candidate may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

The Business Development Team Leader reports to the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Client Experience and will be responsible for maximising the revenue generation and growth potential of the Region by actively pursuing and successfully negotiating a range of business opportunities with a specific focus across TAFE Queensland South West Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
  • Work strategically with internal and external key stakeholders and agencies to lead negotiations to develop and maintain partnerships.
  • Manage the Business Development team including: team meetings; timesheet and leave arrangements; performance management.
  • Lead the efficient and effective transition of commercial business to the relevant business areas of TAFE Queensland South West region in accordance with Commercial procedures.
  • Proactively identify and review potential business opportunities to enhance commercial revenue for TAFE Queensland in alignment with the organisation’s strategic priorities and record all commercial activities/contract details in TAFE Queensland Customer Relationship Management system (CRM).
  • Manage and maintain effective, professional communications and working relationships with a broad range of internal and external clients and stakeholders at strategic and operational levels including resolution of client complaints.
  • Initiate and develop influential presentations to enhance the TAFE Queensland’s profile and maximise training outcomes.
  • Develop strategies to enable the team to meet the region’s commercial revenue targets.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge across VET funding, legislation and compliance frameworks including changes and new funding opportunities.
  • Maintain an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE Queensland including financial and business performance and any impact from external factors.
  • Establish and maintain network opportunities including engaging with industry, business and the community through participation and/or facilitation of networking events and relevant committees.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Demonstrated high-level analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to conceptualise and develop sound innovative strategies for training programs that meet client training requirements.
  2. Demonstrated success in the achievement of business objectives and performance targets within a commercial environment with a continuous improvement focus to improve client service and increase market share.
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise, communicate and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders and organisations to build and sustain profitable and productive relationships and work collaboratively to foster a positive and cohesive work environment.
  4. Demonstrated well developed leadership skills, enabling creativity, innovation and responsive client service.
  5. Demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness and demonstrate the attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $114,114 - $121,876 (gross) per annum.
