Join the City of Yarra as part of a strong and evolving Digital and Technology team. This role will work alongside the Data Services team members to transform the way we connect, engage, and deliver value to our internal business partners and community.
As Business Intelligence Analyst you will be pivotal in converting data into meaningful insights that guide strategic decisions and align with our organization's vision.
- Leverage your proficiency in the Azure, Power BI technology stack, database query and data modelling to discover, gather, transform, and merge data from various sources.
- Ensure data quality, dependability, and consistency through the implementation of best practices.
- Conduct statistical analyses and data mining and produce visualisations and reports for stakeholders.
- Cultivate a data-centric mindset by providing training and assistance in data tools and analytical methods.
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Contemporary knowledge of information management technologies and application within a business context.
- Mastery of Power BI is essential, including:
- Building interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards.
- Data modelling using Power Query and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
- Creating custom visuals and utilising the Power BI Service for sharing data securely and for collaboration.
- Knowledge and experience with other reporting packages (in R, Python, SSRS etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, JavaScript, ETL frameworks etc)
- Technical expertise regarding corporate databases, data models, database design & development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
- Familiar with Cloud fundamentals (Azure, AWS, etc)
- Proficient in data ingestion from multiple sources, transforming it to the right format to be used for reporting and visualisation (e.g ELT, ETL).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with source data analysis, data mapping, and identifying source of truth for data across distributed systems/applications.
- Analytical and investigative skills in policy formulation.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and consultation skills.
- Good understanding of data privacy, managing and sharing sensitive data.
