The Role:
Johns Lyng Group are currently looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to join the team to help drive improved business performance across the company. Reporting into the General Manager – Digital Products, Delivery & Analytics, the successful candidate will have a 'go-getter attitude' and be hands on in gathering, extracting, and manipulating raw data from multiple databases to transform it into reporting solutions and insights.
As the business grows, the position will continue to evolve, and the successful candidate will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to work requirements and to undertake new or alternative duties as required. This may include new technology usage and new work procedures. Changes will involve the incumbent and will be supported with training.
This position will be a full-time permanent opportunity based in the Doncaster Office (Eastern suburbs of Melbourne), commencing as soon as possible!

Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
- Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
- Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Perform data extracts against large data sets using SQL.
- Develop Python scripts to automate scheduled reports.
- Create highly interactive Power BI Live Dashboards.
- Develop and provide timely, accurate and insightful operational reporting / analysis to Executives, Senior Management, and a wide variety of both internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyse variations to targets and forecasts, highlighting implications and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Interstate travel from time-to-time will be required.
- Previous experience as an experienced data engineer or Business Intelligence Developer, or similar
- 10-15 years’ experience minimum in a Management Information or Reporting role.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; a master’s is a plus!
- Data engineering certification (e.g., IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus!
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, Azure, Data warehouse and lake house
- Advanced statistical and data visualisation skills
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and clear manner (both verbally and written)
- High attention to detail
- Strong numerical, analytics and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand business strategy, business modelling and to provide advice on alternative business opportunities.
- Experience with Cognos or Qlikview preferred.
