Genetic Counsellor.
What you'll be doingThe
Kids Cancer Centre (KCC) is a large multi-disciplinary department within SCH with internationally respected programs in translational medicine, clinical trials, bone marrow transplantation and neuro-oncology care.The Senior
Genetic Counsellor will work within the KCC, Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick to provide genetic counselling and education of clients, triaging of referrals, organisation of clinics, identify areas of improvement for the service, education of health professionals and the community, promotion of the KCC, and standardising
Cancer Genetics material for the network and NSW
Cancer Genetics. The remit extends to nationwide through the research projects of the Zero Childhood Cancer Program.
- A postgraduate qualification in genetic counselling and attained Part 2 Certification in Genetic Counselling certified by the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA)
- Demonstrated extensive specialist clinical knowledge or high-level broad generalist knowledge in Cancer Genetic counselling with advanced reasoning and practice skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated commitment, ability to meet deadlines and high standards of performance.
- Demonstrated thorough understanding and ability to apply professional knowledge and judgement when performing complex clinical tasks, solving problems and managing cases.
- Demonstrated computer literacy with experience with MS Office, databases, presentation and pedigree drawing software. Skills in planning, implementing, evaluating and reporting on services, with knowledge of quality improvement and service evaluation processes
- Demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision and support to level 1 / 2 genetic counselling staff and students.
- Demonstrated consultant leadership skills and experience, at service, state, and national level
