Where you'll be working:
The position is based in the Cardiology Unit of the John Hunter Hospital.The unit provides cardiology monitoring and diagnostic testing across many areas of the John Hunter Hospital, Belmont Hospital, Maitland Hospital, and other HNE health sites.
Technical staff work a fixed roster and provide a weekend on-call service outside of normal hours.
The technical team has staff at different grade levels, experience, and interests and there are opportunities to investigate all areas of cardiac diagnostics.
About the role:
The role will provide cardiac ultrasound diagnostic testing in support of the Cardiology service to both adult and paediatric clients.
- Perform cardiac ultrasound scans and provide accurate reports of observations for both inpatient and outpatient clients across the service as requested
- Assist with the provision of other cardiac tests in support of the Cardiology unit as directed by the supervisor
- Clean and maintain all equipment used for the above cardiac tests
- Contribute to and participate in appropriate quality activities to improve all aspects of the Cardiology Service
- There will be initial orientation and training to assist with starting in the position
- There is ongoing support from senior staff and regular, ongoing training and education to ensure continued development and accreditation
- Training in paediatric cardiac ultrasound is offered to all staff
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Science or other similar area which includes human anatomy and physiology
- Accredited and registered with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
- Participate in a weekend on-call service
- Eligible to drive in NSW and travel for work purposes
