Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School has over 2900 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. The Role
The School seeks a Careers Advisor to join in a full-time ongoing position, commencing as soon as possible (with some flexibility on the start date available). As a Careers Advisor, you will be responsible for providing students and their parents with high-quality advice about student career options and career development, including guidance on exploring various career paths and making informed decisions about their subject selection, tertiary studies and employment options.
Within this role, you will work closely with the leadership team, including the Head of Senior School while collaborating with teachers, parents, and external stakeholders to ensure secondary students receive comprehensive and up-to-date information about their career options.
Your duties will include:
- Assist students with mapping out their academic paths based on their career goals and provide advice as required;
- Work in a collaborative environment to integrate career-related content into the curriculum;
- Keep up-to-date with current and anticipated developments in the world of work and attend career events;
- Assist in the organisation of work experience placements and provide guidance to students; and
- Working closely with the Middle Schools and in conjunction with the Senior Careers Advisor.
The successful candidate will demonstrate they have:
- Relevant qualifications in career counselling, education, or related field, preferably in a school setting;
- A sound knowledge of career assessment tools, options and educational pathways, particularly tertiary programs;
- Excellent communicator with strong organisational skills;
- Ability to work within a team environment and autonomously;
- Proficiency in using technology for counselling and administrative purposes;
- Eligibility to work in Australia; and
- A valid Working with Children Check.
